The secret of content filling

The secret of content filling

Why is content so important?

Simply put, the content of the website should add value to the visitor. Content improves the user experience. The user is guided through the website with text, images, videos, etc. Finally, content serves as a source of information for the user. And what do you need a website for if you don't have content?

Who visits your website the most?

Before you produce any content, you need to realize who belongs to your target audience. By target audience you mean the users who will visit your website the most. Do customers go to your website to get information? Do you already have a specific problem that you are looking for a solution too? Or are there other reasons?

Also, think about what a potential customer might look like and create personas. The personas don't have to be a graphic masterpiece, nor do they have to be novels. It is important to note background information about the person (work, education, marital status, family, etc.), demographic points. It is also helpful to know what the client expects. And last but not least, how much budget your client has and how he will use it.

So much content – what's the best way to go about it?

The preparation of content for the website is often underestimated. As already mentioned, the matter is not done with a few texts. Take the time to work out a small concept of how you want to arrange the content. The content can't be the same for every page. There is a difference if you want to inform the customer first and foremost or if you want to encourage them to buy directly. So, the text is also not identical for every sub-page.

Below you will find some tips on how to design your content. I recommend that you write the text in a document. This way you have all the text in one place and a work colleague could continue working in the same document. Also, I would create a folder for the images, so they are also collected.

A text should look appealing so that the user wants to engage with it. With these tips and tricks, you're sure to succeed.

  • Style
You know who your target audience is. Align the writing style accordingly. Your target audience must be able to understand the content easily. If your main target group is experts, you can certainly use technical words. However, keep in mind that you will have users who do not know the jargon. Make the texts optimal for them as well. In any case, stay true to your writing style.
  • Headlines
To achieve effective headlines, they must have a meaningful meaning and attract attention. A headline like "Welcome to our website" is therefore inappropriate. Try a title like "We create digital success stories".
  • Continuous texts / bullet points
Continuous texts should offer added value by describing something in more detail. In order not to bore the customer, you must formulate the sentences concisely and objectively. You should get to the point with few lines of text. Enumerations serve as a change to ordinary flowing texts. They are often read more readily by the user. They also offer the advantage that the text is recognized and interpreted more quickly.
  • Images and infographics
Images, infographics or illustrations are strongly perceived and viewed by the customer. With images, texts are visualized or the whole text is loosened up. However, the images should be placed sensibly and be meaningful. If your company does not have any good pictures now, it is worthwhile to hire a photographer for high-quality pictures. Because pictures reveal a lot about the image of the company.
  • Other interactive content
Images or graphics can be used for virtually any audience. There is the possibility to integrate videos. These are also strongly perceived. However, if videos do not appear professional, they can massively affect the image. In the modern world, podcasts are also being used more and more. However, this medium is only recommended if you produce and upload new episodes regularly (once a week, not once a year 😉).
  • Keywords
You may have also heard of keywords. These keywords are defined by the company. The company should be found on Google under these keywords. In the past, it was important to include as many keywords as possible in the text. Nowadays it gives you rather disadvantages. Google scans the texts and notices when keywords are used unnecessarily and without context. So, use keywords wisely. And remember, you are writing the text for your customers and not for the search engines

Now you know what to consider when preparing the content. Yes - it is a lot of work. For this reason, it is not reprehensible to get external help. If you need help with photography, copywriting or SEO, we can introduce you to our partner companies.

Correction is the be-all and end-all.

A website with incorrect texts or poorly resolving images looks very un-professional. For this reason, you should have texts checked by a third party. It is also worth having more than one person proofread the texts. It is a well-known fact that ten eyes see more than two.

How do I get all the content into Pimcore?

You have now prepared the content for your website. The next step is to upload all the content into the backend of Pimcore. But what is the best way to proceed?

Quite simple, I recommend you import all images, videos and documents into the assets first. In order not to cause data chaos, create labeled folders. Then you only have to move the images, videos and documents into the corresponding folder. It is important that you keep the structure and continue it consistently in the future.

After that, it's the turn of the individual pages of your website. Here you need to figure out how you find filling the easiest. I usually start with the home page and then work my way through page by page. First, I paste all the text from the pre-written document into a sub-page. Then I insert the images from the as-sets on the page. If I am unsure at any point what content should be here, I make a note of it and clarify it. However, this should not happen at this point. And don't forget to save the content at the end of a page - otherwise all the work was for nothing.

And now the website is ready?

If you have now filled all pages completely with content, you are basically done. However, the content of the website must always be up to date. Check the content regularly for correctness and make corrections if necessary. If your website contains a subpage with news or a blog, you will always have something to do. Ideally, you should publish a new entry at least once a month. But this should also be of high quality, because here quality is more important than quantity.

Conclusion

Preparation is key in most cases, and so it is here. Invest time in the preparation of the content. Get to grips with your target group and their wishes. This way you can design the content ideally and your target group will feel addressed. Filling can be very efficient with the tips described. So, use the right technique. The invested time for all the content will be worth it - your customers will be happy about a complete and high-quality web page.
